If you are planning to visit, here are some things that you need to know and do for your trip.
History Of Tijuana
The Tijuana derived its name from “Viejuana” which means “sleeping land.” It was a Spanish colonial settlement prior to 1810.
The Tijuana we visit today was founded in 1824 and initially was a small fishing village. It received as much importance as much as much as seven cities in the region. But the leaders of the region made plans for a great city and it was founded as a port to rival Seville, now the capital of Spain.
It is said that people living in the region once had gold mines, which likely supplied much of the city with water. But the mines closed and the people had to look elsewhere for water. The region was taken over by the Mexican government and became a territory of Mexico.
The city has continued to grow and is now a full fledged cosmopolitan city that receives many immigrants from throughout the world.
